Position: Chemical Dependency Counselor (Credentialed)
Description:
This is a FULL-TIME position working 35+ hours per week, Monday - Thursday, hours vary from 1:30pm - 10pm and possible Friday 11am - 7:30pm.
Responsibilities:
Will work directly with chemically addicted patients participating as an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment planning team.  He/she will provide patients with initial integrated assessments, chemical dependency assessments, psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, discharge plans, individual and group drug and alcohol counseling, group therapy and family drug and alcohol education, films/process/assignment and topic discussion groups, seminars and assist with aftercare planning and groups.  In addition, he/she will serve as liaison between the program and community support groups, attend and participate in continuing education conferences. Employee must maintain chemical dependency certification. Employee must have strong communication, documentation, insurance verification and utilization review skills.
Requirements:

Education: 
Bachelor's and/or AA degree from an accredited college or university in social work, human services or related field.
Experience
: Minimum five years supervised working experience in a substance abuse treatment setting working with chemically dependent patients, and expertise in dual diagnosis, 12-step programs and substance abuse, conducting assessments, lectures, counseling, working with family dynamics and group therapy. 
License:
Certified in California as a licensed alcohol/drug counselor (RAS, CAS II,CADC II, etc.).
Additional Requirements:
  CPR/AED Certification must be current and presented to Human Resources upon hire.  You may be required to successfully complete the Fremont Hospital’s non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training course within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting with preventative intervention measures.  You may be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
