Jonathan Strong, a Registered Addiction
Specialist (RAS), put together a program to help himself
study for the RAS Certification Exam, which helped him pass
the first time with one of the top three scores recorded for
the 1,176 RAS exams administered in 2010.
After his impressive performance on the RAS
Exam, Mr. Strong was invited by the Program Director at the
University of the Pacific (where he attended the UOP
Substance Abuse Counselor Certificate Program) to share his
study method and program with other students in the UOP
program. A number of those students inquired as to whether
they could purchase his study material in their preparation
for the exam, which motivated him to develop what he calls
"The P.A.S.S. Method" of study.
P.A.S.S. is the acronym for "Professional
Addiction Specialist Study," which was developed by Mr.
Strong specifically to assist candidates to the pass the RAS
Certification Exam. The PASS program includes a study guide,
flash cards and practice exams.
"It feels really great being in a position to
help others," explains Mr. Strong, "not just the students
and interns preparing for the RAS exam, but their future
clients as well."
