BURBANK, California (September
29, 2006) - The National
Certification Commission (NCC), the certification
arm of NAADAC - The Association for Addiction Professionals
(NAADAC), has formally recognized
Breining Institute education programs and certifications as
qualifying for NAADAC's nationally-recognized certifications
for addiction professionals.
Since its creation in 1990,
NCC has developed a number of credentials, including the
National Certified Addiction Counselor, Level I (NCAC I) and
Level II (NCAC II), the Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), as
well as other specialty certifications and endorsements. |

Shirley Beckett Mikell,
Director of Certification and Education for NAADAC, echoed
Mr. Martin's comments, and added that this includes NAADAC's
recognition of the Breining Institute Masters and Doctorate
Degrees in Addictive Disorders as qualifying degrees for the
MAC certification.

ELIGIBILITY |
|
|
|
Current certification as an alcoholism / drug abuse
counselor from a NCC-recognized agency, including
Breining Institute's nationally-accredited
Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS) credential
-
Three years full time or 6,000 hours of experience
as an alcoholism and/or drug abuse counselor; and
-
270 contact hours of education and training in
alcoholism and drug abuse or related counseling
subjects (including 6 hours of ethics and 6 hours of
HIV/AIDS training)

Pass the NCAC I exam

addicted clients

Five years full time or 10,000 hours of experience
as an alcoholism and/or drug abuse counselor
(including 6 hours of ethics and 6 hours of HIV/AIDS
training); and
-
450 contact hours of education and training in
alcoholism and drug abuse

Pass the NCAC II exam

Masters degree in the healing arts, includes MA or
Doctorate (Dr.AD) from Breining Institute
-
Three years full time or 6,000 hours of experience
as an alcoholism and/or drug abuse counselor
(including 6 hours of ethics and 6 hours of HIV/AIDS
training), two years or 4,000 hours of which must be
obtained after the degree was awarded; and
-
500 contact hours of education and training in
alcoholism and drug abuse
