David Gust

Publication date: 1994 (revised 2006)
Publisher: New Directions Program Corporation
200 pp

Effective Outpatient Treatment for Adolescents presents a program model for counselors and therapists working with adolescents experiencing alcohol and other drug-related problems. The book describes in a step-by-step format the procedures for treatment in an outpatient setting. Also included are assessment forms for client processing.

Recommended reading for alcohol and other drug counselors, even if they do not work primarily with adolescents, because it provides excellent information that is instructive in the treatment of adults. Breining Institute has used this text as required reading since the first edition was published in 1994.
