Anani
Institute, founded by Breining Institute alumnus Vannessa
Lindsey, Dr.AD, is an educational institution that offers a
600-hour Alcohol and Drug Counseling course for individuals
training to qualify for employment as an alcohol and drug
counselor. This program provides the qualifying formal
education for candidates seeking the State of
California-approved and nationally-accredited Registered
Addiction Specialist (RAS) Credential.
As founder
and president of Another Choice, Another Chance (a youth
treatment organization), Dr. Lindsey describes the
inspiration for her founding of Anani: "I have had the
privilege of working with many good chemical dependency
counselors and therapists, and I have seen the devastating
effects that alcohol, drugs and other addictions have had on
our youth, families and the nation. I realized that, in
order to effectively combat the adverse effects of addiction
on our nation, we need more great counselors and therapists
in the community. My goal is to inspire students to thrive
and, once they thrive, they will in turn share their
knowledge and help others."
Dr.
Lindsey has the experience and formal education that gives
her the credentials to offer quality training and education
to addiction counselors: She has been active in the chemical
dependency field for over twenty years; earned her Masters
and Doctorate in Addictive Disorders (Dr.AD) degrees at
Breining Institute; and has served as a Subject Matter
Expert (SME) Panel Member evaluating certification exams
offered by Breining Institute (including the examination for
the RAS Credential).
"Breining
Institute certification programs are evidenced based,
culturally competent and relevant to the needs of people who
suffer from addictions," explains Dr. Lindsey. "Anani
Institute is on the cutting edge of addiction education, and
individuals looking for a second career, seeking retraining,
or interested in earning certification now have an
opportunity to expand their educational options to achieve
those certifications. This alignment of Anani's education
programs with Breining's certification programs creates a
win-win opportunity for students and will develop more great
counselors."
