  Over 150 Educational Institutions

Candidates for the multiple-choice, computer-administered Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS) examination have received their qualifying education from over 150 educational institutions located throughout the United States and Canada. To put the candidates on equal footing, all exam questions are taken from information contained within The Addiction Professional: Manual for Counselor Competency, a comprehensive study guide provided to each RAS exam candidate, and is supplemented with a free On-line Tutorial - prepared by Breining Institute - that reviews the Manual and the current testing areas.

Q: Is the RAS Exam easy?
A: No.

The exam was prepared by experts in the field of addictions, was subjected to and passed psychometric validation, and is one of only a few exams for addiction professional certification in the United States that has earned national-accreditation from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). So, when you pass the exam, you will join a select group of experienced and tested addiction professionals located in over 14 countries and 40 US States.

Q: Why do over 80% pass the first time?
A: We provide study materials and tutorial.
Over 150 schools throughout the US and Canada provide qualifying education for RAS Candidates. In order to put all applicants on equal footing, Breining provides a comprehensive study guide - The Addiction Professional: Manual for Counselor Competency - without extra cost to the RAS Candidate, and also provides a free on-line tutorial that follows along with the Manual. All of the exam questions are taken from the material contained within the Manual and the tutorial, so all candidates have the opportunity to study the same information in order to pass the exam.

Top providers of qualifying education

The high pass rate is attributed to the commitment of educational institutions providing the relevant preparatory education, use of the Manual, and exam candidates studying the Manual with the on-line Tutorial.

Which are the top providers of qualifying education? Each of the educational institutions listed below graduated students who have qualified to take the RAS examination. Congratulations to these schools and to their students!
