Top Educational Institutions

Candidates for the multiple-choice, computer-administered Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS) examination have received their qualifying education from over 100 educational institutions located throughout the United States and Canada. To put the candidates on equal footing, all exam questions are taken from information contained within The Addiction Professional: Manual for Counselor Competency, a 418-page study guide provided to each RAS exam candidate, and is supplemented with a free On-line Tutorial - prepared by Breining Institute - that reviews the Manual and the current testing areas.

The RAS Exam passing rate was 68.5% in 2007, and the current passing rate in 2008 (as of October) is at an all-time high of 69.6%. The high pass rate is attributed to the commitment of educational institutions providing the relevant preparatory education, use of the Manual, and exam candidates studying the Manual with the on-line Tutorial.
